Michael Keaton is a man who’s best known for playing a superhero on the big screen. Years after hanging up the cape, he tries to stage a big comeback on Broadway. What we’re describing here isn’t real life, but the plot to Alejandro González Iñárritu’s upcoming movie, Birdman.
Take a look at the first trailer:
Though he’s still best known as Batman, Michael Keaton has been excellent over the last few years, taking small supporting roles in The Other Guys and Robocop (knocking it out of the park on both occasions). But this seems like a movie built for him: quirky and funny, but with a strong dark streak. We can’t wait to see him mix it up with co-stars like Zach Galifianakis, Amy Ryan and Emma Stone.
There’s even a scene in the trailer where Keaton goes all Tyler Durden on Edward Norton!
Here’s the poster:
Mexican director Iñárritu is best known for his elliptical, contemplative films like Babel and 21 Grams. It will certainly be interesting to see how he handles this new kind of movie.
Birdman lands in the UK 2 January 2015
