The BBC has had a storied history of producing some of the world’s finest television dramas. With their upcoming spy show The Honourable Woman, will they have a show that ranks with the likes of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Singing Detective?
Check out this extended preview:
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s a great actress who’s seemingly gone quiet in the past few years. But like many of her fellow American actors, she’s now sinking her teeth into a juicy television role.
She plays Nessa Stein, an idealistic businesswoman and the daughter of an Israeli arms manufacturer. On the day that she is installed into the House of Lords, a murder and a kidnap take place, she becomes the central figure in a conspiracy plot that somehow involves the West Bank.
The Honourable Woman is the new series from Hugo Blick, creator of the 2011 mini-series The Shadow Line: another tangled conspiracy thriller. He was also the director behind Rob Brydon’s breakout series, Marion and Geoff.
But don’t we recognise Blick from somewhere else…?
Oh that’s right. He was the young version of the Joker in Tim Burton’s Batman!
We’re sure he’ll appreciate us dragging this up after he spent decades building his career as a respectable writer/director!
