It was announced back in 1999 that there would be a movie chronicling the rise of rap pioneers N.W.A. Since then, director F. Gary Grey and the key members of the group have been searching for the right actors to play them as young men.
As of yesterday, the film has found its Ice Cube, Dr Dre and Easy-E: actors O’Shea Jackson Jr, Marcus Callender, and newcomer Jason Mitchell.
Here they are with their real-world counterparts:
Jackson (bottom left) is Ice Cube’s 23 year-old son. The 21 Jump Street star has apparently been lobbying on his behalf for years, and with good reason: he’s the spitting image of his father.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will begin production in the next two months.
