James McAvoy returns to his Scottish roots later this year with an adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s novel Filth. The erstwhile Professor X plays a misanthropic, violent, racist, cocaine snorting Detective Sergeant with the Lothian and Borders Police up in Edinburgh. Co-starring Jamie Bell and Jim Broadbent, the film sees McAvoy’s character spiraling way out of control, presumably with a climactic scene where he rides a sow off into the sunset.
But then again, we haven’t read the book so don’t take us as an authority in this matter.
